Glen Coe Melion

Chameleon pro level

One of a set of punny animals, the tartan pattern is bases on the clan Donald tartan who were the owners of glen coe.

The tartan is built up using a set of ColourRamp nodes set to ‘Constant’ to create a set of line/band patterns that can then be overlapped to form the tartan pattern.

The wood pattern uses a wave texture to generate the pattern and the displacement, in addition to the displacement a hair particle system linked to a few blocks was added to the branch surface to mimic moss/lichen.

The chameleon skin displacement is just a simple noise / voronoi mix

Cowmooflarj

Sneaky sneaky cows

This should have been the name for my Tauren hunter however I had foolishly already called him Kowmookasi which really would have been a more appropriate name for a warrior. Both these spellings use older versions of my refactored english (if confused they spell camouflage and kamikaze).

This is actually the first animal that I created with blender, the materials used are mostly based on the marble node setup from the elbrujodelatribu blog. The material for the mouth and udders started as a simple diffuse material but looked a bit to plasticy so this had a sub-surface scattering node to it.

The earliest version of this project used a more realistic grass (hair) particle system, however as I was going for a more cartoonish appearance trying to mix realism in with it made the image look confused to me so I switched to the more blockish setup.

Pigstyle

Bringing home the bacon

A play on pigsty in which I wondered what a stylish pig would look like, nothing overly fancy model wise though with this one, all the materials are pretty standard and the form itself is pretty simple.
